Granite Stone is the most common stone in Hagga Basin, densest around the Northwest and Southwest Ironworks and the Table of the Gods. Any cutteray will do. Basalt Stone is rarer and sits in the north-west, best at the Wreck of the Alecto, Rockwarren Village and Kynes's Promise. For basalt nodes you need a Cutteray Mk3.

Loose stones lie on the ground and can be picked up by hand. Rock nodes need a cutteray.

Where to find Granite Stone in Hagga Basin

Granite is on almost every rocky area, so mine what's near your base. If you need a big batch, these spots have the most nodes:

Northwest Ironworks

The densest granite spot on the map. Salvaged Metal and Fuel Cells are packed around it too, so bring cargo space.

Basalt and granite in the Deep Desert

The Deep Desert has about 40,000 nodes of each stone, mostly around shipwrecks. You don't need to go there for stone, but if you build an outpost there, check where it sits this week:

What you need to mine them

  • Granite: any cutteray, including the Improvised Cutteray (2 Salvaged Metal at a Fabricator).
  • Basalt: a Cutteray Mk3 for the nodes: 15 Steel Ingots, 10 EMF Generators, 10 Cobalt Paste, 5 Ray Amplifiers and 90 ml of water at the Survival Fabricator. Without it you can only collect loose basalt.

What Basalt and Granite are used for

Granite Stone is the basic building material. It goes into almost every buildable piece:

PieceStarter CHOAM setUpgraded CHOAM set
Foundation1215
Wall810
Floor810

Planning to switch to the upgraded set later? Each piece costs about a quarter more granite, so mine 25 % extra on top of your plan.

Most house furniture also costs granite: 50 per large piece (beds, desks, chairs) and 25 per small ornament.

Basalt Stone is refined into Plastone at a Medium Ore Refinery. Plastone is the material of the Atreides and Harkonnen building sets: a foundation costs 18 Plastone, a wall or floor 12.

Where is the best place to farm Granite Stone?

The Northwest Ironworks (188 nodes nearby), the Southwest Ironworks (178) and the Table of the Gods (152) in Hagga Basin.

Where do I find Basalt Stone?

In north-west Hagga Basin: the Wreck of the Alecto (172 nodes), Rockwarren Village (113) and Kynes's Promise (103).

What Cutteray do I need for Basalt?

A Cutteray Mk3. Without it you can only pick up loose basalt stones from the ground.

What is Basalt Stone used for?

It is refined into Plastone, which builds the Atreides and Harkonnen building sets.
