A Sign from Above sends you to the Wreck of the Hephaestus, an Ixian ship that crashed east of Harko Village on the Overland Map. You need an ornithopter and a Cutteray. Inside, you take an Ixian crewman's eye for the pentashield scanner, describe the noble's container, power four panels on the bridge and grab the Ixian Decoder.

How to start A Sign from Above
The journey begins at the end of Further Instructions in The Assassin's Handbook. After two kills for Elara Tuek, go back to Hagga Basin and wait inside a watersealed shelter. A spice-dream cutscene shows a ship falling from the sky. Then Ari calls: an Ixian ship has crashed, and its command deck should carry the decoder she needs for the minimic film.
The wreck appears only on the Overland Map, east of Harko Village. A sandbike can't get there, so build an ornithopter first (how to get an ornithopter). Once inside, you are locked into the mission. It takes 45–60 minutes, so don't start it with a low water flask.
Bring: a Cutteray (you cut through walls several times; you can't progress without one), a light source, healkits, water, and ideally a Radiation Suit for the bridge hallway. No suit yet? Iodine pills get you through the radiation too.

Fastest way through the Hephaestus
- Take the corpse eye if you want to skip the dialogue; it lies right in the cargo room.
- Don't fight every suboid in the waves. The step ends when the noble finishes, not when the room is empty. Just survive.
- Describe the three container items back to back. They sit together, and missing one is the most common reason the step hangs.
- Use the panel order above. It saves you from wandering the bridge with radiation ticking.
- Don't loot after you take the decoder. The escape starts at once.
Common problems and fixes
- The eye scanner won't open. You need the eye item first. Check the corpse in the middle of the cargo room floor, or go back to Suph Rondi.
- "Describe the contents of the container" won't complete. You probably skipped one item. All three interactions are required: Bible, garment and communinet device.
- The Fuse Capacitor step does nothing. You used a look-alike panel. Use the one opposite the shield you were trapped behind.
- The noble keeps calling you, or key items duplicate. The 19 October 2026 patch fixed both bugs in A Sign from Above. Update the game and restart the mission.
- The journey doesn't finish after the escape. Fly to a watersealed base, Arrakeen or Harko Village. The last step completes only in one of those places.

You need an Ixian crew eye. Take it from the trapped crewman with "Remove his eye", or spare him and take one from the crew corpse on the cargo room floor.
Which Fuse Capacitor is the right one?
The panel directly opposite the pentashield you were stuck behind. Several panels look the same, but only that one counts.
Should I kill Suph Rondi?
It's your call. Removing his eye kills him; leaving him alone spares him, and you use the corpse eye instead. Both paths open the scanner and the mission continues.
Do I need a Radiation Suit for A Sign from Above?
It isn't required, but it helps a lot in the irradiated hallway on the way to the bridge. Bring healkits either way.
