The Sandwalkers Dune Awakening interactive map shows every ore node, loot container, cave and NPC in Hagga Basin, the Deep Desert, Arrakeen and Harko Village, each in its real spot. Use "Where is best" to find the densest resource area, the loot finder to see where an item drops, and the week picker for the Deep Desert.

What's on the map

Everything is split into layers you can switch on and off, so you only see what you're hunting for:

  • Locations: caves, shipwrecks, Imperial Testing Stations, trading posts, sietches, enemy camps and outposts. Hagga Basin alone has 96 caves, 13 shipwrecks, 14 testing stations, 8 sietches, 70 outposts and 429 camps.
  • NPCs: trainers, vendors, house representatives, Landsraad representatives and taxi pilots, each with its in-game name.
  • Ores (Cutteray nodes): copper, iron, carbon, aluminum, jasmium, erythrite, basalt, granite, flour sand, salvaged metal, fuel cells, titanium and stravidium.
  • Hand pickups: the small ore chunks you grab without a Cutteray.
  • Plants: Primrose fields (dew), Brittle Bush and Agave.
  • Spice fields: small, medium and large.
  • Loot: every container type, from Primitive and Rare Containers to Ultra Rare chests, weapon lockers, fuel crates, medical crates and lootable stations.
  • Keys: the coloured ID strips that open pentashield doors in testing stations and shipwrecks.

Hover a point for its name and details; a place's card lists the loot in its containers and the resources nearby. The map uses the game's orientation (north up), and in the Deep Desert the coordinates bar shows the sector (A1 to I9).

Maps available: Hagga Basin, The Deep Desert, Arrakeen, Harko Village, six small maps (Blushing Cavern, Wreck of the Tyche, Smuggler's Run, The Ruins of Tsimpo, Wind Pass and The Broodworks) and the Overland Map.

How to use "Where is best"

Turn on a resource layer and press "Where is best". The map outlines the cells with the most of that resource and labels each with a count. Or jump straight to a ready search:

Two details make it more accurate than counting dots:

  • Ore odds. Most ore spots don't hold one fixed ore: each time a node respawns, it can come back as a different one. The map shades every spot by how likely it is to give your ore (a sure spot is solid, a 50/50 spot is paler, a mixed rock is faint), and you can switch between all places and the expected amount.
  • Pure islands. In the Deep Desert the finder first looks for pure islands: sectors packed with spots that only ever give that ore, so every rock you cut is the one you want. If there are none this week, it shows the three most reliable sectors.

For spice, "Where is best" finds the point with the most medium and large fields within reach, not just the busiest sector. Plants and loot layers work too: try the best primrose fields for dew.

Farm a cell in a loop rather than chasing single rocks across the map: mine it out, empty your inventory at a nearby base or storage, and come back once the nodes have respawned. In the Deep Desert, check the sector's PvP status before you fly out, and land on rock: a vehicle left on open sand draws sandworms.

How to find where an item drops

Search any component by name, in your language or in English, and the map shows every container it drops from, with the drop chance and the number of containers per place:

Complex Machinery, for example, is in 75 containers in Hagga Basin, with a 100% chance from four containers at Khidr's Shadow:

If the item drops on other maps too, the panel lists them (Complex Machinery also drops in the Deep Desert and The Broodworks). In the Deep Desert, the server switch (PvE, PvP or both) shows loot for the instance type you play on, because the two loot tables differ. The same search works from any catalog page: "where it drops" leads here. Our where-to-find articles use it too, for example where to find Industrial Pump.

Deep Desert map this week

The Deep Desert changes every week with the Coriolis storm, so a static map is wrong within days. Ours opens this week's Deep Desert by default, and you can still look back at earlier weeks.

  • The week picker lists earlier weeks; the current one has a dot.
  • The panel shows since when the current layout has been live and a Coriolis storm countdown.
  • Points you or your guild placed in an earlier week stay tied to it and show as "from another layout".
  • Check the countdown before a long trip: the storm wipes everything built in the Deep Desert, so don't stash loot there the day before it hits.

The overview page has the same storm timer next to the Landsraad decree. Read the Deep Desert guide for getting there and the Coriolis storm guide for what the reset wipes.

Personal and guild markers

Sign in and switch to the markers side of the panel to add your own points:

  • Marker types: base, outpost, resource, danger, meeting point and note, each with a title and a note.
  • Resource records: write down where you get something, with several pins and an optional loot item.
  • Who sees it: mine (private), guild, or public. Guild markers and records are visible to every member, which makes them the easiest way to share a farming route or meeting point. Join or create one in guilds.
  • Other players' public markers never clutter your map uninvited: you turn on what you want, author by author.

Every marker and record has its own link, so you can drop it in a guild chat.

Active spice field marks

Spice fields come and go, so the map lets players mark which ones are active right now:

  1. Click a spice field and choose Mark active, with private, guild or public visibility.
  2. The first mark starts the field's window: 30 minutes for a small field, 1 hour for a medium one, 2 hours for a large one. Later marks confirm it, but don't extend it.
  3. Active fields pulse on the map and show who marked them, when, and roughly when they'll expire. The map updates live.

The map also shows every spot in the Deep Desert where a large field can appear, so you know where to look before anyone marks it. Harvest fast and keep an eye on the worm warning: a spice field is where sandworms come to feed. For harvesting, see how to farm spice.

Tips

  • Share links. The address bar keeps the map, the week, your search and the spot you're looking at, so a copied link shows your guildmate exactly what you see.
  • Search finds places by name, layer types, and catalog items: raw resources lead to where to mine them, everything else to where it drops.
  • Group icons with a counter at low zoom, or turn grouping off to see every point.
  • Pair the map with the crafting calculator: it tells you how much to farm, and the map tells you where.

Is there an interactive map for Dune Awakening?

Yes. The Sandwalkers map covers Hagga Basin, the Deep Desert, Arrakeen, Harko Village and the small dungeon maps, with every ore, container, cave and NPC in its real spot.

Where can I see the Deep Desert map this week?

Open the map and switch to The Deep Desert. It opens this week's map, shows when it went live and counts down to the next Coriolis storm. Earlier weeks are in the picker.

How do I find the best place to farm a resource?

Turn on the resource layer and press "Where is best". The map outlines the richest cells with a count on each; in the Deep Desert it highlights pure ore islands first.

Can I find where an item drops?

Yes. Search the item in the map's loot search, or press "where it drops" on its catalog page. The map shows each container's drop chance and how many containers each place has.

Can I share markers with my guild?

Yes. Set a marker's visibility to guild and every member sees it. You can also keep markers private or make them public.
