The Coriolis storm is the weekly reset of the Deep Desert in Dune Awakening. It hits every Tuesday at 05:00 local time of your server region, during the daily restart. It rebuilds the Deep Desert map with new spice fields, wrecks and resource spots, and it wipes everything players built or left there. Hagga Basin bases are not touched.

The exact countdown for your region is on our live overview page. It accounts for daylight-saving time, so you do not have to.

When does the Coriolis storm hit?

The storm arrives once a week, on Tuesday at 05:00 in the time zone of your server region:

Server regionStorm time
EuropeTuesday 05:00, Central European time (Berlin)
North AmericaTuesday 05:00, US Central time (Chicago)
South AmericaTuesday 05:00, São Paulo time
OceaniaTuesday 05:00, Sydney time

Because the time is tied to the local clock, the storm moves by an hour in UTC when daylight-saving time changes. In autumn, Europe and America get it an hour later in UTC, and Oceania gets it an hour earlier. The game also posts a message on Monday that announces the time of the storm's peak.

What the Coriolis storm does to the Deep Desert

  • New map layout. Spice fields, shipwrecks, resource islands and loot sites are reshuffled. Last week's titanium spot is gone. Our map switches to the new layout after the storm, so check the live finders instead of old screenshots.
  • Player structures are wiped. Bases, camps and placeables in the Deep Desert are removed.
  • Vehicles and containers left behind are lost. This includes buggies, sandbikes, ornithopters, harvesters and storage parked in the Deep Desert at the peak.
  • Loot and spice reset. Containers, testing stations and spice fields come back fresh.

What happens in Hagga Basin?

Your Hagga Basin base, its contents and vehicles parked there survive the Coriolis storm. The weekly reset is a Deep Desert event. Hagga does have ordinary sandstorms, though, and they are a different thing (see below).

The Coriolis storm and the Landsraad

The weekly Landsraad term is timed around the reset. The decree voted for the week stays active until the end of the session, shortly before the Deep Desert reset, and then a new term begins. Our Landsraad guide explains the board and the vote. The current decree is on /overview, next to the storm timer.

How to protect your base and vehicles

You cannot shield a Deep Desert base from the wipe. You can only make losing it cheap.

Need Particle Capacitors for a Vehicle Backup Tool? They drop in Imperial Testing Stations.

How to surviveLeave the Deep Desert before the peakShelter indoors, in a cave or a closed garage

During a sandstorm the HUD tells you when you are sheltered. If one catches you in the open, head for the nearest cave, overhang or building instead of trying to outrun it on foot. Vehicles left outside keep taking damage, so park them in a garage or under a roof at your base. If you are designing a base, plan a closed hangar from the start. The base generator and the base library show layouts with sheltered vehicle bays.

How to use the weekly reset to your advantage

  • Be early on Tuesday. After the storm, the Deep Desert is full of fresh spice fields and untouched loot. Look up the week's best titanium, stravidium and spice spots on the live map before you fly in. The Deep Desert guide has the routine.
  • Treat the Deep Desert as a work week. Build a light outpost on Tuesday, farm through the week and pack up on Monday.
  • Watch for worms. A fresh map means fresh spice fields on open sand. Read the sandworm guide before you start harvesting.

How to find what changed after the storm

The first hour after the reset decides who gets the best spots. Instead of scouting blind, use the live finders on our map. They switch to the new Deep Desert layout as soon as it is known:

  • Resources. Each ore has its own finder that ranks this week's best clusters: titanium, stravidium and large spice fields.
  • Loot. The loot finder lists the containers that can drop a component, for example Particle Capacitors, across testing stations, wrecks and caves.
  • Plan the route. Pick one rich cluster close to a rock outcrop, so you can park and work without a worm on your tail. Then mark a second one as a fallback in case another guild beats you to it.

The material guides list what each resource is for: titanium and stravidium.

What is a Coriolis storm in Dune Awakening?

It is the weekly storm that resets the Deep Desert. It rebuilds the map layout and wipes player bases, vehicles and containers left there. Hagga Basin is not affected.

What time is the Coriolis storm?

Every Tuesday at 05:00 local time of your server region: Berlin time in Europe, Chicago time in North America, São Paulo time in South America and Sydney time in Oceania. The live timer is on our overview page.

Does the Coriolis storm destroy my base?

Only bases in the Deep Desert. Your Hagga Basin base, its storage and vehicles parked there survive.

How do I save my vehicles before the storm?

Fly or drive them back to Hagga Basin, or store them as items with a Vehicle Backup Tool, crafted from 6 Copper Ingots and 2 Particle Capacitors.

Is the Coriolis storm the same as a sandstorm?

No. Sandstorms happen regularly in both Hagga Basin and the Deep Desert and damage anything caught in the open. The Coriolis storm is the weekly Deep Desert reset.
