Where to Find Complex Machinery in Dune Awakening

Complex Machinery is not sitting in chests. Almost all of it comes from the abandoned fabricators and refineries inside enemy bases, and those give it 100% of the time. The best Hagga Basin sites are the three Ironworks (six buildings, 3 machines each), Khidr's Shadow (4) and Imperial Testing Station No. 60 (3).

Where to find Complex Machinery in Hagga Basin

Almost every source in Hagga Basin is a broken station you can loot: small ore refineries, fabricators, survival fabricators, small chemical and spice refineries, plus a few weapon, vehicle and garment fabricators. Every one of them drops Complex Machinery. The few chests that have it are much worse (19–34.4%).

The Ironworks

Each of the three Ironworks is a pair of sites a short way apart, and each site has 3 machines. That's 18 guaranteed drops if you clear all six.

Khidr's Shadow

Khidr's Shadow has 4 machines. Hand of Khidr (2) and Kant's Tower (2) are close by, so one loop gives you 8.

Imperial Testing Station No. 60

Three machines, plus 10 containers with Particle Capacitors in the same dungeon. It's harder than an outpost; see our Imperial Testing Stations guide.

Where to find Complex Machinery in the Deep Desert

It's rare there. This week there are only 3 sources, all abandoned machines (100%), two of them inside an Imperial Testing Station. The map changes every week, so check the finder:

What Complex Machinery is used for

It's the main part of almost every crafting station, so you need a lot of it early:

• Fabricators: Survival, Vehicles, Weapons and Garment Fabricator cost 30 each (plus 40 Steel Ingot). The advanced versions cost 80 each.
• Refineries and power: Medium Ore Refinery 35, Medium Chemical Refinery 40, Spice Refinery 50, Medium Spice Refinery 80, Spice-Powered Generator 80, Large Ore Refinery 160, Large Spice Refinery 280.
• Water: Fremen Deathstill 32, Advanced Fremen Deathstill 50, Improved Blood Purifier 20.
• Vehicle engines (29 recipes): Buggy Engine Mk3 takes 10 (with 20 Steel Ingot, 8 Particle Capacitor, 13 Cobalt Paste); Mk6 engines take 24. The Scout Ornithopter Engine Mk4 needs 6, and the Scan Module 16.
• Advanced Machinery (tier 6): 3 Complex Machinery, 2 Plasteel Plate, 1 Cobalt Paste.

Farming tips

• Loot every fabricator and refinery you pass in an outpost. They look like base machines, not boxes, so they are easy to miss.
• The Ironworks are the most efficient route: six sites, all machines, no chest luck involved.
• Your first big upgrade, a Survival Fabricator plus a Medium Ore Refinery, takes 65 Complex Machinery. That's about four full Ironworks loops, so plan a few evenings for it.
• Bring free inventory space. The same outposts also drop Solari, darts and other components, and you don't want to leave them behind.
• Loot refills over time. Loop between the Ironworks instead of waiting at one site.
