Where to Find Copper Ore in Dune Awakening

Copper Ore is the most common ore in Hagga Basin: over 22,000 nodes spread across the map. The densest fields are at the Northwest and Southwest Ironworks, the Wreck of the Alecto and Kaleff's Monument. Your very first tool, the Improvised Cutteray (2 Salvaged Metal), mines it. Copper Ingots then unlock the Cutteray Mk1 and your first sandbike.

Where to find Copper Ore in Hagga Basin

Loose chunks you can pick up by hand lie all over the basin too. You'll find copper next to almost any rock, but these places have the most nodes within reach:

Northwest Ironworks

The top copper field, and also the top iron field (213 iron nodes), so it stays useful long after the starter phase.

Southwest Ironworks

South of the map centre. Two clusters with 178 and 142 copper nodes, with plenty of iron alongside.

Kaleff's Monument

A landmark in the far south-east with 162 copper nodes. A good option if you started in the eastern half; it's a landmark, not an enemy outpost.

Table of the Gods

A landmark west of the map centre with 151 copper and 151 iron nodes nearby.

Wreck of the Alecto

Far to the north-west, so not a starter spot. Once you have a Cutteray Mk3, though, it's the best mixed field in Hagga: 178 copper and 172 aluminum nodes.

Is there copper in the Deep Desert?

Yes. Copper is one of six ores the Deep Desert's mixed rocks can roll, at roughly 11% per spot. Nobody needs to fly there for copper, though; Hagga has more than you'll ever use.

What you need to mine Copper Ore

• Improvised Cutteray: 2 Salvaged Metal at a Fabricator, Portable Fabricator or Survival Fabricator. It handles copper; iron needs the Mk1.

• A Small Ore Refinery (90 Salvaged Metal) to turn ore into ingots.

What Copper Ore is used for

Copper Ore refines into Copper Ingot, and it's the only ore that needs no water to refine:

Copper Ingots go into 47 recipes. The early-game essentials:

• Cutteray Mk1: 6 ingots plus 4 EMF Generators, and the key to Iron Ore;
• Scrap sandbike: chassis (9), engine (3), power supply (3), hull (9) and tread (2), so 26 ingots for a working bike, plus Advanced Servoks and Particle Capacitors;
• Welding Torch Mk1 (6), Hajra Literjon Mk1 (16), Survey Probe and its launcher;
• base buildings: Small Chemical Refinery (45), Water Cistern (25), Recycler (30), Small Insulated Cistern (10).

Farming tips

• Grab the loose copper chunks on the ground while you explore. They're everywhere and need no tool.
• Mine about 130 Copper Ore on your first trips. On a Small Ore Refinery that makes 32 ingots: 6 for the Cutteray Mk1 and 26 for a scrap sandbike.
• Mine copper and iron together at the Ironworks. Once you have a Cutteray Mk1, every trip there pays twice.
• Since refining copper costs no water, you can queue a full stack in the refinery even when your cistern is low.
