Where to Find Iron Ore in Dune Awakening

Iron Ore is a Hagga Basin resource. The best fields surround the three Ironworks, Northwest, Southwest and Southeast, each with 150 to 213 nodes nearby, and the Table of the Gods in the west. You need a Cutteray Mk1, made from Copper Ingots. Iron feeds Iron Ingots and, with Carbon Ore, Steel.

Hagga has over 4,000 iron nodes, plus small loose chunks you can grab by hand as you pass. The Deep Desert has only a few hundred, so don't plan iron runs there.

Where to find Iron Ore in Hagga Basin

Northwest Ironworks

The single richest iron field in the game. The outpost has two parts, and each one has 200+ nodes around it. It lies north-west of the map centre.

Southwest Ironworks

South of the centre, two parts with 202 and 166 nodes. A good choice if your base is in the southern half.

Southeast Ironworks and Scav's Hope

The Southeast Ironworks and the Scav's Hope outpost sit next to each other, so one stop covers three counted clusters (158, 152 and 152 nodes).

Table of the Gods

A landmark west of the map centre with 151 iron nodes and the same number of copper nodes nearby. It's the only one of the five that isn't an enemy outpost.

What you need to mine Iron Ore

• Cutteray Mk1: 6 Copper Ingots and 4 EMF Generators, at a Fabricator, Portable Fabricator or Survival Fabricator. The Improvised Cutteray is not enough for iron.
• Copper for it comes first: see where to find Copper Ore.
• EMF Generators drop from containers: where to find EMF Generator.
• Weapons and armour. The Ironworks are enemy labor outposts with guards.

What Iron Ore is used for

Iron Ore refines into Iron Ingot at any ore refinery:

The iron recipes every player needs early:

• Cutteray Mk2 (10 ingots), which you need for Carbon Ore;
• Static Compactor (10), for Flour Sand and other compacted sand;
• sandbike Mk2 parts, Holtzman Shield Mk2 (15), Power Pack Mk2, the Handheld Resource Scanner (9);
• base items: Chest (20), Repair Station (40), Improved Blood Purifier (50).

Then comes Steel Ingot: 1 Iron Ingot plus 4 Carbon Ore at a Small Ore Refinery, 3 at a Medium one, 2 at a Large one. Farming tips

• Still in starter gear? Begin at the Table of the Gods: no guards, and copper right next to the iron. Move to the Ironworks once you can handle a fight.
• Copper is dense around the same Ironworks (177 to 188 nodes at the Northwest one), so you can top up copper on the same trip.
• Refine on a Medium Ore Refinery as soon as you have steel: 4 ore per ingot instead of 5 is 20% less mining.
• Ore is heavy. Bring a sandbike with a storage module so you aren't walking back over-encumbered; see the vehicles guide.
